Today’s Show Me Your Pedalboard entry comes from Anish all the way from Mumbai, India! Anish plays bass in a progressive rock band called Coshish. You’ve guys have made quite the name for yourself! Anish mentions that after all of his years of bass playing, he only recently started getting into pedals. It’s never ever too late to get into pedals! Any given pedal can encourage you to play a certain way which in turn expands your creativity. Innovation isn’t a race, whether you’re a newbie or seasoned vet, there’s always something to learn from one another. Welcome aboard! Let’s take a look at what Anish is rocking:
Anish’s rig starts off with a Radial Bassbone Preamp and DI which also features an FX Loop. Anish mentions that he makes good use of the Bassbone’s ability to blend both the effected and non-effected signals as well as its multiple versatile outputs. One of the outputs is a specific channel for tuner pedals which Anish uses for his Korg Pitchblack tuner. From the “send channel” of the Bassbone things kick off into a Digitech Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive, into an EBS double team of the EBS Multi True Dual Band Compressor and the EBS Unichorus. With the EBS Unichorus you get three pedals in one, in addition to the chorus function you get Pitch Modulation and Flanger settings as well.

After the Unichorus, Anish’s signal continues onto a Carl Martin Red Repeat Delay/Echo pedal. The Red Repeat features up to 600ms of delay time with vintage self-oscillating echoes. Carl Martin specializes in all analog effects. Carl Martin have been making a wide range of effects for years, you can find out more about them here. Cool stuff Anish! Anish’s signal then ends in a BOSS GEB-7 Bass EQ. Honorable mention to the MXR DC Brick. The MXR ISO Brick is also now available, great reliability that MXR is known for that also has isolated noise free connections for your pedals.

As far as recommendations and suggestions go, If it were up to me I’d move the compressor up front before the overdrive. Earthquaker Devices makes some awesome overdrives (check out the White Light!) If you wanted to spice things up with some modulation, the Earthquaker Devices Hummingbird tremolo is great, as is the Grand Orbiter phaser. MXR also has the wonderful Bass Octave Deluxe and the Bass Envelope filter too! There’s a lot of room for expansion in your board, but go with what works best for you.
I know effects are either hard to come by or really expensive in different parts of the world, but Reverb is such a wonderful marketplace and platform for people to buy/sell gear. There are a lot of great sellers on there that ship all over the world, so Reverb should help alleviate that difficulty for you Anish.
